Broken Boxes & Art of Indigenous Resistance

Curator Ginger Dunnill just shared images from the Form & Concept Gallery reception for the opening of Broken Boxes & Art of Indigenous Resistance that happened on Winona LaDuke’s birthday. The event proceeded the screening of First Daughter and the Black Snake at the ZOHI Gallery as part of the Red Nation Film Festival. These beautiful images are courtesy the photographer Kate Russell for Broken Boxes Podcast 2017.

The exhibit featured fabulous artists and Honor the Earth board member and curator of the Art of Indigenous Resistance Kim Smith addressed the crowd. I told people about the screening of First Daughter and the Black Snake which followed the reception and then I help lead the audience in the song “Happy Birthday”. Winona seemed genuinely surprised to be presented with the cupcakes and candles and it was a fantastic reception thanks to Ginger, Kim and the Form & Concept Gallery.
